As camping season approaches, there may be more people shopping for RVs and trailers. If a consumer decides to buy a used RV from your business, make sure you provide all applicable vehicle history as per Section 31.1(1) of the Automotive Business Regulation (ABR). Even if the RV or trailer is non-motorized, the legislation around vehicle history information disclosure still applies.
Additionally, Section 31.1(2) of the ABR states that all applicable information required to be disclosed must be in a clear and legible manner in:
- Any online advertisements for the vehicle,
- On any sales tags or window stickers affixed to the vehicle, and
- In writing to the consumer before the consumer enters into a purchase contract.
Disclosing vehicle history ensures transparency and helps you as an automotive business to build trust with consumers. Use AMVIC’s vehicle history checklist as a guide to make sure the vehicle history is fully disclosed to the consumer.
