The Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC) is the regulator of Alberta’s automotive industry. AMVIC protects the public interest and promotes trust and confidence in the motor vehicle industry through business licensing, inspections, investigations and education. AMVIC also works to foster the positive exchange of information among industry stakeholders.
As a result of legislative changes coming into force on Oct. 31, 2018, the board will consist of 13 members:
- seven directors representing the general public appointed by the Minister;
- five directors representing five automotive industry associations; and
- one director representing industry-at-large, which is appointed by a majority vote of industry directors.
As of Oct. 31, 2018, there will be a vacant industry director-at-large position on the AMVIC board. This member would be expected to prepare for, travel to and attend board meetings, as well as participate on committees. The AMVIC Board of Directors provide governance of the council and oversees the management of the council’s activities.
