Are you checking if your ads are compliant?

| Industry bulletins

As an automotive business in Alberta, you are responsible for your advertisements. Using a “catch-all” style disclaimer on a website or advertisement does not clear an automotive business of the responsibility for compliant advertisements. AMVIC has created an advertising toolkit on amvic.org to assist you in creating compliant advertisements, which includes:

  • The advertising modules from the Salesperson Registration Course and the Service and Repair Course, available at no cost.
  • Advertising guides, checklists and a social media advertising FAQ.
  • A range of sample advertisements.
  • AMVIC logos in a variety of formats.

Are you rolling out new ads that offer credit or does the ad state the interest rate or payment amount? If so, then make sure those advertisements comply with the Cost of Credit Disclosure Regulation.

Are you advertising used vehicles? If so, ensure you include the required vehicle history information.

Remember that you are responsible for your advertisements. Visit amvic.org for more helpful resources for your business.
