Insurance Certificate of Authority: expiration reminder on behalf of the Alberta Insurance Council

DATE: | Industry bulletins

On behalf of the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC), AMVIC is reminding all automotive businesses who are licensed by the Alberta Insurance Council to sell equipment warranty, credit related and GAP insurance that they are required to renew their insurance agents’ certificate of authority annually, and no later than June 30, 2017. Your licence with the AIC will expire if it is not renewed prior to June 30, 2017.

The Alberta Insurance Act (the “Act”) requires that every business that acts as an insurance agent must hold a valid certificate of authority. Acting as an insurance agent without holding a valid licence is an offence under the Act, and could result in disciplinary proceedings and sanctions.

The AIC will email renewal notifications to all licence holders in early May.
