In this Regulation,

(a) “Act” means the Fair Trading Act;

(b)  “automotive business” means the business designated as the automotive business under the Designation of Trades and Businesses Regulation;

(c) “business operator” means a person who is engaged in the automotive business;

(d)  “compensation fund” means the compensation fund established by the Council under section 137(1) of the Act;

(e)  “consignment agreement” means a consignment agreement to which section 55 of the Act applies by virtue of section 32 of this Regulation;

(f) “Council” means the Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council referred to in section 24;

(g) “ license” means a class of automotive business license established by this Regulation;

(h)  “lien” means, in respect of a motor vehicle or other personal property, any lien, mortgage, charge or encumbrance to which the vehicle or other property is subject;

(i)  “motor vehicle” means a motor vehicle as defined in the Highway Traffic Act, but does not include:
- a motorcycle as defined in the Highway Traffic Act.
- an off-highway vehicle as defined in the Off-highway Vehicle Act.

(j) “salesperson” means a person who is authorized by an automotive sales licensee, automotive leasing licensee or automotive consignment licensee to solicit, negotiate or
conclude on the licensee’s behalf an agreement to buy, sell, lease, exchange or consign a motor vehicle.
