INVESTIGATOR – EDMONTON
The Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (“AMVIC”) has an
immediate need for an investigator based in
Edmonton.
AMVIC is responsible for the enforcement of the Fair
Trading Act and Automotive Business
Regulation in the province of Alberta.
These responsibilities are fulfilled by:

Licensing Motor Vehicle businesses and
salespeople in Alberta.

Investigating consumer complaints relating
to the motor vehicle industry in Alberta,
including automotive sales, repair and
service, recreational vehicles sales and
auction sales.

Investigating fraudulent activities in the
motor vehicle industry.
Investigators are part of AMVIC’s Investigation team and will
report to AMVIC’s Northern Manager of
Investigations. The successful candidates must
work well with the public, businesses, industry
associations and personnel, and law enforcement
agencies. Responsibilities will include:

Responding to complaints and inquiries from
consumers
-
Applying the Fair Trading Act as it
relates to motor vehicle businesses and
salespeople
-
Conducting investigations and recommending
subsequent actions, including criminal
prosecution and hearings.

Completing and serving all court documents
and court briefs.
-
Inspecting motor vehicle businesses to
ensure compliance with licensing
requirements for the business and sales
people
Successful candidates must have excellent communication and
time management skills, and the ability to work
in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Our investigators carry a high case load. The
position requires some travel to communities in
the Northern half of Alberta. It is imperative
that applicants are prepared to do all of their
own typing. Candidates will be required to
consent to a criminal record check and must be
eligible for Special Constable status in Alberta
Qualifications:

Above average typing skills.
